Shine Squad @ Lake Tapps Elementary

We had such an amazing time today with Mrs Cheney’s class at Lake Tapps Elementary! We are so grateful to Jane and Ruby for the invite to join their class, talk about Shine for Isla and how doing acts of kindness can help change the world. We were blown away by all the ways in which the kids are doing things to help spread sunshine. And of course we served Isla’s famous popcorn with candy (and “Taylor Swift” sprinkles and fairy dust) in it! We loved it when kids would come up and say “I’ll have it Isla Style” - meaning full of candy to the max! Which prompted a dance party with some of Isla’s favorite Swiftie songs, our disco ball helping set the mood and we even had kids doing the worm! We were delighted to have one student exclaim - “this is the best end of school day I’ve ever had!” Another child said - “Isla is my good luck charm”. Another yelled to a teacher - “we got to celebrate Isla today!” Many kids knew of her and had enjoyed her swing that we installed. It was neat to see “Shine for Isla” on the calendar in the classroom. As we entered the 2nd floor we were greeted by a “let your light shine” installation. It was amazing to see her presence still shining bright as ever. Her life may have been too short to us, but boy was it impactful. That’s what we can say - she is loved, remembered, celebrated, cherished. and there is so much good that continues to spin into this world because of her.
